Monimiaceae in Singapore make up a small family with just two species in two genera, which are both part of a wider generic and family distribution with additional taxa, covering much of Malesia. Less conspicuous than other plant families, Monimiaceae (Laurales) occurs throughout the southern hemisphere and is closely related to Hernandiaceae and Lauraceae. It consists of mostly shrubs and small trees, but also has a few lianoid species in the tropics and subtropics. Work on the new treatment included a review of all the collections held at the herbarium of Singapore Botanical Gardens (SING), the preparation of new line drawings for Kibara and Matthaea by the author and some minor fieldwork in Singapore to collect new specimens. The new treatment is set for publication in 2026-2027 and will be released as part of the Flora of Singapore-series (Vol. 4).
