Flora of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam – Annonaceae

Numbering well over 250 species, Annonaceae are a very large forest component and common sight in the field in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. Perhaps less well-known is that the majority of these species occur not as trees, but in this region constitute mostly lianas (over 160 spp.). This ongoing project and treatment in preparation by Dr Joeri Sergej Strijk, coordinated by the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle (MNHN) and funded by the Franklinia Foundation, constitutes a major inventory and revision of existing collections in Paris. To extend collections and fill sampling gaps, fieldwork has been carried out in Laos and Vietnam. A completely reworked taxonomic treatment is slated for end of 2027 and will be released as part of the “Tropical Flora and Fauna Program” of the Museum.
